Hello all.
I just wanted to share some info that I have noticed while playing 2 of my characters about the Avatar Weapon Relics. Some of you have asked where the best place to farm them is. Well on my 1st character I was in the Berzerad Cemetery and I got 3 of them when I fought 2 mobs. I was there for about an hour and nothing else dropped. So I went to the next area and another 2 dropped. (I cant really remember what the name of the next area was) within the first 10 minutes. So I went to the next area on the list and then just like the last area more relic pieces dropped with in the first few minutes I was there.
Now I tried this again with Rafe who is my second character and it also worked. I didnt stay in 1 area to long. Just enough to get 2-3 relics and then move on. Now I am not sure if this is going to work with all the relics or if this will work in every area. I just wanted to pass along what has worked for me on 2 of my toons for the first 2 Avatar weapons.
Also if you didnt know if you hover your mouse over the relic piece it will give you the locations you can find the pieces at.
I hope this helps.
Happy Gaming,
Rafe Steelstorm

In my experience it is always better to attempt and get relic pieces in dungeons. There's higher chances in the normal versions than the solo ones. Even if you're higher level than the dungeon allows, you can easily grab a teleport scroll from Specialty merchants to a specific dungeon. Another thing is: Always wear relic weapons unless you're a healer. Healers might want other weapons instead.

Why wouldn't healers want to use relic weapons? I'm a priest, and I'm always using my relic.

Because they tend to be stronger than the others, and get extra crit against monsters of a similar level.

Only once did I consider switching to a blue drop weapon over my relic weapon and that was when I was in the process of picking up the pieces of me new relic weapon. Once I had all the new relic pieces, I just switched to that relic weapon which was far better than the blue one.

Healers don't really need Relic weapons in dungeons, although it's always good for them to pick it up for leveling outside of dungeons. But, usually non-relic weapons have better healing ratings than Relic weapons. Even for DPS classes, Relic weapons usually lack numbers, but they make it up by having that huge crit rate against enemies of near levels. And since you'll always be aiming for Crits from the back you'll be doing a lot more DPS than with a normal weapon. Tanks do want relic weapons too because crits while tanking is one of the better things there is for dungeons and soloing in general. All of this becomes invalid at level 65. You can't rely on Relic weapons since they don't do enough damage, they don't provide enough aggro and they don't heal as much as weapons of that level.
As an example for what I am trying to say with healers: You could heal better/faster with a weapon from several patches away than with a current end game weapon if you have the right rolls. Well, it used to be that way, I don't know anymore haha.

So as a priest, I should use my relic when soloing but use a rare for dungeons for increased healing?

Once you're 65 you're going to be using non-relic weapons. Since they're tons of times better. While leveling I heavily recommend that you use your relic weapon, even if it has lower stats, You MUSTN'T ignore the crit rate against monsters of your level. It makes everything so much more easier. Shanuva: That's correct, you've got that right. Of course just take your relic weapon if you don't have a legendary weapon with ya. It's no biggie.

Once level 65, when I stop using relic weapons, what weapon types will I be using? Dropped, found, crafted?

Once you get to 60, you just need to follow the instructions from the vanguard quests that you access when you reach that level. You can also craft end game weapons but that takes a lot of effort and money.
